Using portals-no records and getting error

I am using portals. If there are no records in the portal I get an error(Fatal error: Call to undefined method FileMaker_Implementation::getField() in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot) Any ideas on how I can stop this or allow page to load and show a message that there are no records in the portal.
