I cannot get container fields to sync with FileMaker Server.
When I add a signature to the container field and run the sync, the field on filemaker's side tells me the 'The file cannot be found: [filename]'
When I try to set a directory where the container fields save in on the sync interface, no prompt is offered to allow me to select a directory and the sync screen stalls on: 'Select a folder to save container fields into'.
I don't see any way to set the container field directory outside of this interface.
Any help here?

I don't know if this is Documented somewhere else or if anyone else has encountered this but I have been pulling my hair out trying to get server sync to work. I am running FM Server 11 Advanced and FM Pro 10 Advanced. When I tried to use my own database the sync would fail with no connection to network. When I used the sample database it would work fine. I checked everything and it appeared that my database was exactly the same as the sample. I figured I would import everything from my database to the sample a step at a time and see where it breaks. The first thing I did was deactivate the admin user in the sample and add mine. This broke the sample and gave me the same error as with my database. The password in my user has the special character @ where the sample user did not so I changed the @ in my password to an a and all is right with the world. Evidently you can't use special characters in the password. Just posting this in case somebody else runs into the same problem.

I am running Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.2, FM 11 Server Advanced (developer license), FMTouch 1.5, iPhone 3GS(3.1.3), FM Pro 10 Advanced.
If i run the iwp Serversynch file it says success and 1.72
Server synch in general works but I am having specific problems.
I have a database with a single table, there are several global number fields and one global date field in this table
If I open the server file in FM 10 Advanced and sync using the regular sync feature the globals are preserved on both the iPhone and Server.
If I sync using the server sync the globals disappear on the iphone but remain in the server file. If I make changes in other fields they are synced and preserved in both.
If I make changes on the iPhone and then server sync the changes don't sync but remain on the iphone until I make a change in the server file after that if I sync the values disappear again.
This only happens in the global fields.
I have another database with a single table several other fields and a container field. if I sync using FM 10 Pro Advanced the jpeg in the container transfers. If I take a picture with the iphone and sync it replaces the picture in the server file.
If I follow this same procedure using server synch on the first synch the picture in the iphone disappears but the pic in the server file remains. If I take a picture with the iphone and synch the server file remains unchanged and the picture on the iphone will remain the same until I make a change to the server file with FM Pro and then on the next sync the picture on the iphone is gone.
As in the database above changes to other fields propagate back and fourth with no problem.
I have both tools scripts and the sync script in my databases and have checked them to make sure that they imported correctly, something that was mentioned in another thread.
Are these known problems or should this be working.

I just posted a new version of the server sync plugin for the Mac. It fixes the container issues when using server sync on the Mac and should now allow proper two-way sync of container fields. Enjoy!

Before the new plugin for mac none of the pictures were synching so I updated and noticed that the pictures were still missing but as I moved thru the records I noticed that some of them were there. So I tested replacing the pic on iphone and then replacing the pic on the server and it synched correctly. The pics are jpegs so I opened some of the files that were not showing up and re-saved them using Preview on the mac and then they would show up, probably the missing files were corrupted in some way.
Good job the synching of pics on Mac Server does work now Thank you.

Great to hear that it is working well for you! The non-syncing pictures were likely either dragged/dropped into FM or were placed there using copy/paste. This pastes them in as PICT files with an empty name into the field. We hope to support those in the future in some way, FM is not making it easy though.

Hello. I was using FMTouch on a FMS 10 and everything was ok.
Today I upgraded to FMS 11 and now I can't connect to the database.
When I tried to connect an error message says "ERROR: CONNECTION FAILED, ... ERROR DETAILS DOMAIN=NSURLERROR DOMAIN CODE =-1004 UserInfo=0x26a460 "can't connect to host""
Any help. I wouldn't like to uninstall FMS 11 back to FMS 10.
Thanks

It seems is is not FMS 11 related. I end up reinstalling FMS 10 and I still have the same problem, no server conection.
XML is on but Web server is yellow and PHP off.

The problem is something in your upgrade killed your Apache or IIS - and even going back to FMS 10 doesn't seem to help. Essentially go back and work through allt he FM docs for getting instant web publishing running or at least the web technology test pages. Hopefully that will point you in the correct direction.

Hello.
Thank you for the tip, it was exactly the problem.
I ended up using a initial backup to reinstall the server because I couldn't solve the apache question.
Nevertheless I now have a new problem and a new error message.
"ERROR: Connection Error. 404 Error, most likely there is now Filemaker Server at the specified URL. ..."
I followed the install steps. Installed the new plug-in and used the more recent Iphone app.
I can sync using the traditional method but I really need the server method for VPN sync.
Sorry for another problem and once again thanks on the last tip.

I'm sorry for the second post but while searching the problem I found on FMA 10 on extended privileges that fmxml is FMSA only. Is this new and is ti blocking the access to the database?
Thank you once again.

I am running FM Touch on an iPad using Server Sync. I have numerous simple files that are syncing correctly. However my main file which contains over 10,000 records will not sync. This is true regardless of whether I attempt to sync it through the server or the traditional way from a separate copied file on the desktop. When in the server sync mode, it just gets to "connecting" and never goes any further. When in the traditional sync mode it starts downloading records but never progresses. In this mode it also says "Syncing Table 1/2" ahead of the name of the file which is in parenthesis. Any suggestions?
