Force recalculation in auto calculation field
«

I have added a new text field which has an auto-calculation option set, but it only updates on records which have been altered since the auto-calc field was added.
How do I force it to update/recalculate the contents in this field only, so it will recalculate for records contents which were present before this new field was created and haven't yet been modified again?
On a calculation field, this is easy, but I can't see how to do it on a normal field with an auto-calculation option set.

Would a Script, which loops through all records, with a SetField step achieve what is required?
Good Luck.

Open your field defintion
Copy the Auto enter calc
Go back to browse.
Click on the field (at this point I would select a small subset of my data to test)
Go to the Records Menu ----> Replace field contents.
Select Replace with Calculation option at the bottom of the dialog.
Paste in your calculation
Ok then click replace.
Be aware I don't think this is undoable. So be backed up and as I say use a small sample to test.
Thsi shoudl replace the contents with what would have occurred had the auto enter been in place whne the record waas created.
