New Forum Features - Top Experts!

Recently I wrote an article that talked about the importance of community, and ways to facilitate its growth.  I took my own advice and we have worked hard to update the forum to make it much more interactive and easy to use.  I am recording a few demonstration movies that will showcase the new features.  Here is a list of some of the changes.

Experts can now compete in a fun challenge to answer questions and earn kudos points.  Experts can be anyone!  We do believe that the experts that work hard to answer questions on the forum should be recognized.  The top three experts will always be displayed at the top of the page!

• Top Experts prominently displayed at the top of the page with their Kudos points displayed.  How this works - When a question is asked on the Forum, a point value is assigned to that question.  Experts answer the question, and the individual that asked the question decides which answer was the most helpful.  The individual that asked the question selects the 'Mark Answer' button, and the expert receives the Kudos points for answering the question.
• Solved topics are marked in green - and with one click you can see the answer to the question just by clicking the "See Answer" button.  The background of the correct answer is also highlighted in a light green color
• Under your user information, it will tell you in red how many topics that you have that are unanswered - click on that link to see your questions.

• See all unanswered questions in a Category - by clicking the link beside the category topic

• Assign point values to questions - Kudo point values will show up in red beside the question

• Assign applications and web expertise under your avatar

I will be demonstrating these new features here - so watch for an update with the new movies.  Also, if an expert answers your question, be sure to thank them and be sure to reward them with the Kudo points they deserve!

Dear me, apparently I'm an expert... that's a little scary for someone who is quite frankly learning the ropes ;-)

I've only got 6 months of *any* php under my belt (although I learn fast - something to do with commercial pressure to deliver stuff to clients...)

And now I'll have to find a photo, looks odd with a blank head there...

But very cool stuff

OK - do you have a way as Admins to assign Solveds for the people who (for whatever reason) don't?

I know that some of the Unanswered Questions are not...

Moderators actually have that power, so please post some topics that you think should be marked as solved in this thread. I will be going through them in the next few days and assigning points to the older topics on FMStudio since the user did not.

I'm not fussed per se, but I do click the Unsolved links quite a bit, and it also helps the newer members if they see that the question has been answered...

I will keep that in mind for the next update - will likely be a link in your profile to a list of topics, it is all in the database, just needs to be queried and displayed properly.
